Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to individuals at the risk of harm from domestic abuse. Our accredited IDVAs work alongside clients with empathy, expertise, and respect, prioritising their safety, wellbeing, and choices while helping to manage and reduce risk.

  • Collaboratively developing personalised safety and wellbeing plans that prioritise each client’s sense of security and autonomy.
  • Offering compassionate, trauma-informed support when accompanying clients to court or legal appointments.
  • Providing guidance and emotional support as clients prepare to share their experiences through evidence or victim impact statements, always at their own pace and when they are ready.
  • Delivering specialist, non-judgmental support around substance use, recognising the complex relationship between trauma and coping strategies.
  • Offering culturally-responsive, identity-affirming support to clients from Black, Asian, and other racially minoritised communities through a specialist BAME IDVA.
  • Providing dedicated stalking advocacy and safety planning through a trauma-informed Independent Stalking Advocacy Caseworker (ISAC).
  • Supporting clients in strengthening the safety of their living spaces in a way that fosters control, stability, and peace of mind.
  • Creating safe, trusting relationships through emotional support, and connecting clients to appropriate mental health and therapeutic services that respect their healing journey.
  • Collaborating with social services to support the safety and wellbeing of children, while prioritising the voices, experiences, and needs of both children and parents in a trauma-informed, respectful, and non-blaming way.
