Morecambe Bay Walk 2026
Back to eventsWish Centre Walkers Take on the Morecambe Bay Walk and Raise £1,775
On Sunday 9 August, 35 amazing supporters of The Wish Centre laced up their walking shoes and took on the unforgettable Morecambe Bay Cross Bay Walk, raising a fantastic £1,775 to support our vital services.
Led by Michael Wilson, the King's Guide to the Sands, and the Guide Over Sands Trust team, walkers made their way from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands, covering a route of approximately 7-8 miles (11-13 kilometres) across the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay.
The day was packed with adventure from start to finish. Our walkers waded through the bay's waters, navigated some nerve-racking moments near the infamous quicksand, and experienced the unique wildlife that calls the bay home. There were little crabs scurrying over toes, a surprise visit from a rather friendly fish that even managed to "kiss" one of our walkers, and plenty of wind to keep everyone on their toes!
But alongside the excitement were many moments of calm and connection. Friends chatted as they walked, children splashed and laughed in the water, and furry friends enjoyed every minute of the adventure. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Morecambe Bay, it was a day filled with fun, teamwork and memories that will last a lifetime.
A huge thank you goes to Michael Wilson and the Guide Over Sands Trust team for safely guiding us across the bay and sharing their incredible knowledge and expertise throughout the walk. Their dedication ensures that this historic crossing can continue to be enjoyed safely by thousands of people each year.
We would also like to thank every single walker, supporter, donor, volunteer and member of The Wish Centre team who helped make the day such a success. Your enthusiasm, generosity and community spirit helped raise much-needed funds that will enable us to continue supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse across Lancashire.
Together, you turned a challenging walk into an incredible fundraising achievement, and we couldn't be more grateful.
Thank you for helping us make a difference, one step at a time. ❤️
